Hello all! Good afternoon and greetings from the lovely Nott Memorial. Currently, I am studying up on the third floor, a location I have not inhabited for a while now. Thought it was a good change of pace and, of course, a beautiful view!
So, we're just wrapping up ReUnion Weekend this afternoon. It's certainly been a great one and wonderful to see some many alumni back on campus!
Some of the weekend highlights included:
1. Garnet Guard and 50th ReUnion gatherings: Congratulations to the Class of 1961 and all other Union Alumni!
2. The Men's Alumni Soccer Game: I didn't hear of the outcome, was it a close game?
3. Reception to Celebrate the Minerva Fellows Program: Speaking of, please stop by the Nott Memorial tomorrow (Monday) at 4:30 pm for a panel with the 2010-2011 Minerva Fellows. This is their biggest event of the term and a wonderful way to hear their experiences before the Minerva Fellows leave campus this week.
4. Family Lobster and Clambake Dinner: Enjoyable, I'm sure! All of the students are looking forward to our very own Lobsterfest next week!
5. Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem: The ReUnion concert, conducted for the last time by retiring Professor Klimash. Congratulations on your retirement, Professor Klimash; you will surely be missed by the campus community in the years to come!
6. 100th ReUnion Parade: I heard this one march past the dorms Saturday morning; a nice way to start off the day!
7. Peter Irving Wold Center Dedication: The beautiful new science center was officially dedicated and has been coming together with the final installations and decorations. Anyone know who to contact in regards to the time capsule that will be sealed in the building next year?
8. 40th Anniversary of Co-Education events: Without it, I wouldn't be here! From all of us women on campus: Thanks for making the college an agent of change; looking forward to continuing forward progress in the years to come!
9. Schaffer Library 50th Anniversary celebrations: I have to admit, that was some delicious cake! Congratulations on reaching half a century; here's to another 50+ great years!
10. THE FIREWORKS!!: One of the highlights of ReUnion weekend is always the fireworks display surrounding Library Plaza and the Nott Memorial. A beautiful occasion, as always! Thanks for making it possible, Union Alumni!
Well, what a weekend! Certainly a wonderful time was had by all! In case you were wondering how I knew of all of these events, much appreciation goes out to those who put together the ReUnion program! Also, please check out the recently made ReUnion video!
Also, thank you to all of the alumni who stopped by the Yearbook Yardsale on Friday and Saturday! Pictures can be found here!
If you are interested in donating your yearbook to our very own Garnet Yearbook Archives (unaffiliated with any office on campus) in order to help garner support for future publications, please contact us at: yearbook.union@gmail.com.
Finally, I apologize that I have been neglect in finishing the Spotlight on Minervas! Check back this week for the final installments, including Messa and Wold House!
PS Photocredit on first two pictures showingcasing the Class of 1971 go to Aleena Paul '12 and Adam Pere '13 respectively!
