Good evening! It's hard to believe that school has been done for over a full week, that the Union student body is on summer break, and that the Class of 2011 have moved on to their next adventures in life. What a year!
I just wanted to take this time to say some goodbyes and thank everyone on campus for making this school year quite special. The commencement exercises were all-around wonderful, but certainly bittersweet. For more information and photos of the festivities, please see the official website.
The graduated seniors certainly made my three years at Union so far quite special, and I know that they have left a lasting impact on our school. Thanks for everything! Best of luck in the years ahead and come back to visit us all at Union soon!
I also wanted to do a bit of a summary as to what can be expected of the return of this blog in the fall:
1. A completion of the Minerva blog series (sorry for the continued delay; looking forward to continuing with Messa and Wold House soon!).
2. Orientation updates on the Class of 2015 from the perspective of the Orientation Advisors (OAs) and the incoming first-years themselves!
3. An exclusive interview with the Director of Greek Affairs, Timothy Dunn, regarding the revival of a few fraternities on campus.
4. A preview of the future of The Garnet Yearbook, and a look back on the publication over the years.
5. The inclusion of a tour of some neat places to visit around Schenectady (also a long time coming!).
6. Some more tips on maximizing the Union College experience (from the perspective of a rising senior).
7. Reflections on the prospect of the ever-looming "real world."
8. Information on SMU: The emerging Student Media Union.
9. The super-secret unveiling of a project involving Union College lore through the perspective of those directly involved in its history.
10. Any suggestions you might have: Feel free to leave a question or comment!
Big plans for the fall; more information to come ahead! Best regards to those not returning to Union in September! And to everyone else: Have a wonderful summer!
PS Check back over the summer for possible monthly updates!
