Introductions

Hello! And a warm welcome to all of you out there looking to learn more about student life at Union College!

To give a little background, my name is Erica Fugger and I am a junior here at Union College in Schenectady, New York!

My interdepartmental majors are History and German and I am hoping to minor in American Studies (although that decision tends to change on a daily basis).

On campus:
I am a member of the Union College Swimming and Diving Team...Let's Go U!
An editor of The Concordiensis Newspaper..."Exposing U since 1877!"
And also involved in the Minerva House System...Sourm House Council, Member at Large!

I've experienced a term abroad, changed my major a few times over, come to know students in all of the Minerva and Greek Houses, been known to attend office hours on occasion, and started to look into figuring out what I want to do with the rest of my life...

Wow, I guess I have been even busier than I thought!

What I am trying to say is that although I still have a ways to go over this next year and a half, I have experienced a whole lot at Union so far. Therefore, I was delighted when I was asked to share my experiences with the rest of the world...meaning YOU!

I'm here to be your guide to daily life at Union, from the perspective of a student-athlete, editor-writer, regular ol' college kid...or whatever you want to call me.

This blog will be a reflection on my experiences and those of my fellow students, so that perspective students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff, my future employers (hello!), and anyone else might be able to gain some insight of what it means to be a part of the Union community.

Questions, comments, and the likes are welcome! I will be uploading posts, pictures, and videos on a regular basis, so if you're interested, check back often!

A special thank you goes out to Ken George from the Office of Communications for the invitation to participate in this new initiative!

I usually like to end my blog posts with a catch phase, so I think my new one will be related to our college motto/seal, which speaks to how we are all like a family here at Union:

'Til next time..."Sous les lois de Minerve nous devenons tous frères!"
(Under the laws of Minerva we all become brothers)!

  1. Hi Erica, I love that you are doing this, I look forward to reading more. How will you fit this new job into everything else you are involved in? :) Where is your hometown? Also, I'd be interested in hearing for a future post your thoughts (or those of your friends)on the Kenney Community Center and your favorite place to visit off campus. Thanks.

  2. Hi Angela: The great thing about being a scholar-athlete here at Union is that I have learned to manage my time pretty well! And I think this blog will be great way to reflect and share my many different experiences.

To answer your question: I'm from Middletown, CT.
I probably should mention that somewhere here...thanks!

And I will definitely be sure to keep your ideas of the Kenney Center/favorite places in mind for future posts! Thanks so much for the comment!
